Crowns, Bridges, Onlays, and Inlays in Mesquite, TX
At Natural Dentistry of North Texas, we perform a wide range of dental treatments to repair and rejuvenate your smile. If you have teeth that are cracked, broken, misshapen, discolored, or missing, we have the skill and experience to restore function, health, and beauty to your smile.
Our Conservative Approach to Dentistry
Dr. Jaspreet Randhawa and her team know that the best teeth are your natural teeth. If you get a cavity or break a tooth, we look for the most conservative solution first. Doing so allows Dr. Randhawa to preserve as much of your tooth as possible.
Dental restorations do just that – they restore your tooth to full health and function. Dental fillings are the most common, but we also offer:
- Dental crowns
- Inlays and onlays
- Dental bridges
In dentistry, there’s often more than one way to repair a damaged tooth. Before deciding which is best for you, Dr. Randhawa performs a dental exam to determine the extent of the damage. She will talk to you about your concerns and any factors like your budget that may enter into your decisions for treatment.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is used to protect a weakened tooth from further damage. Since a crown encases the damaged tooth, it also absorbs chewing forces so you can eat comfortably.
Dr. Randhawa would recommend a dental crown in the following situations:
- A cavity is so extensive that a filling isn’t enough to repair it
- A tooth is cracked, worn, or broken down
- A tooth needs strength and protection after a root canal
- You need crowns on adjacent teeth to support a bridge
- You have a dental implant that needs to be restore
The process for placing a porcelain crown at our Mesquite, TX dental office usually requires two appointments about two weeks apart. During the first, Dr. Randhawa prepares the tooth and takes impressions that we send to a custom dental lab that prepares your crown. In about one to two weeks, you will return to our practice, and we will cement the new restoration in place.
Dental Implant Restoration
At Natural Dentistry of North Texas, we work with some of the most respected and experienced local specialists to help patients replace missing teeth with dental implants. We will work closely with a trusted oral surgeon for the surgical portion of the implant procedure and then Dr. Randhawa will place a dental crown atop the dental implant that matches surrounding teeth.
With proper care, dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime.
Dental Inlays and Onlays
We use dental inlays and onlays to repair moderate damage on back teeth. If a tooth is too damaged for a filling but not compromised enough to warrant a dental crown, Dr. Randhawa would recommend an inlay or onlay.
- Inlays – Inlays fit within the tips or “cusps” of molars and premolars to protect them and works similarly to a filling. The notable exception being that an inlay is created outside your tooth at a custom dental lab. Unlike placing a filling, we don’t have to significantly alter the tooth to place an inlay.
- Onlays – An onlay addresses dental damage that includes the cusps and is laid on top of the tooth. The onlay creates a strong new chewing surface, so we typically choose durable materials like zirconia or gold.
Placing an inlay or onlay is similar to placing a dental crown and usually requires two appointments.
Dental Bridges
If you lose a tooth, you have several options for replacing it. A dental bridge is an excellent choice if you’re missing one or two teeth in the same area of your mouth.
The bridge is a dental prosthetic that is fabricated at a custom lab and placed on your teeth. It is a unit that consists of an artificial tooth that sits in the open space and is held in place by crowns attached to adjacent teeth. The process for placing a bridge is similar to placing a dental crown.
